I love a good festival and some I attend yearly- Its a great time to check out new things and each some weird food

✔ Chinese New Year
A major holiday in many Asian cultures, Chinese New Year’s day is celebrated worldwide, and is often referred to as the Spring Festival. It’s a time for family, reunion, good food, and steeped in traditions and themes of good luck, fortune, happiness, health and longevity.

✔ Hutt Valley- Carnival of Lights
Carnival of Lights is a free public event that transforms Riddiford Garden in central Lower Hutt into a wonderland of brilliant light installations and live performances over four nights at Labour weekend.

Went back with the Munchkin for the 2019 Festival and picked a great spot for the Fireworks display.

✔ Loemis Festival
Lōemis is a festival that began in Wellington in 2016, and is now entering its fourth year. The festival is created by a collection of local Wellington artists and communities. It is our offering towards Maruaroa o Takurua; the winter solstice, which connects with and takes place around the rise of Matariki and Puanga. Each year a ‘Demon’ is created and you can make offerings to it (such as a note about your dreams) and on the night it is carried to the Lagoon and set alight.

In 2017 it was Somnium (Write down your deepest dreams: the good or the bad. When you are done, feed it, carefully, into the ravenous belly of Somnium where it will exist in that state until the final Ritual)

In 2018 it was Seraphina (Take time to write down that which you wish to be gone and feed it to the cavity in her stomach. For her nest, place into her egg that which you wish to build anew, for she will nurture them). I also attended a workshop to build a lamp to help light the way.
